Effective today, Kevin Haney joins McGinnis Lochridge as a new partner with the firm. Haney, a well-respected attorney based in Decatur, Texas, north of Dallas/Fort Worth, leaves his solo practice with Haney Law, P.C. to represent clients in the electric energy practice with McGinnis Lochridge. Haney will also represent clients in the real estate and corporate and business transactions practice areas out of the firm’s new Decatur office.
“Electric energy is one of our largest practice areas, and we are excited to have Kevin bring his many years of experience to McGinnis Lochridge,” Doug Dodds, managing partner of McGinnis Lochridge, said. “We have no doubt his deep knowledge of the electric energy industry, as well as work on behalf of electric co-ops, will be a huge benefit to the quality counsel our clients have come to expect.”
Previously, Haney worked nearly 15 years with the law firm of Miller & Haney, L.L.P. where he served as partner, representing electric and gas utilities, in addition to clients in the areas of real estate, corporate/business entities, and finance. Prior to joining Miller & Haney, he served as senior vice president and general counsel for CoServ Electric, an electric cooperative based in North Texas.
“After years working on behalf of clients in the electric energy sector, I am pleased to join McGinnis Lochridge,” Haney said. “The firm’s strong track record in this area is a perfect fit for my clients and goals, and I am pleased to partner with the firm and help continue to grow this reputation. I am also excited about the breadth of legal expertise that the firm can provide to not only my energy-sector clients, but also my real estate, corporate/business and other commercial clients.”
Haney currently serves on the board of governors of the Wise Health Foundation. Also, this month he will end 12 years of service on the board of trustees of the Decatur Independent School District. He earned a B.B.A. in business management from Texas Christian University and a J.D. from the Baylor University School of Law.
In addition to the new Decatur office, McGinnis Lochridge has offices in Austin and Houston. The firm provides legal counsel on business and financial matters, as well as advocates for clients before administrative agencies, at the State Capitol and in courthouses across Texas and throughout the Southwest. The firm serves clients in many areas, including oil and gas, electric energy, financial services, technology, healthcare, hospitality, higher education and real estate, among others.
