Overview
Kevin has more than 19 years of experience in the electric energy and natural gas retail distribution industries. He has extensive experience representing Texas electric cooperatives and a Texas natural gas retail distribution utility in business transactions, including drafting and negotiating wholesale power supply contracts, retail service contracts, municipal franchise agreements, solar power purchase and interconnection agreements, utility easements, utility construction contracts, inventory services agreements, pole attachment agreements, and loan agreements. Kevin also has considerable experience in handling cooperative governance and tariff matters. Kevin’s transactional practice also includes representing corporate clients in commercial real estate purchase/sale transactions, leasing and property management matters, and in corporate matters, such as formation and capitalization, mergers and acquisitions, and loan transactions.
Prior to joining McGinnis Lochridge, Kevin was in private law practice for fifteen years after holding a position as senior vice president and general counsel for an electric cooperative in which he was responsible for all legal matters for the cooperative and its affiliates. He also previously served as vice president and assistant general counsel to the general partner of a publicly-traded real estate investment trust where he was the lead asset management counsel and lead counsel in numerous acquisition and financing transactions for the company.
