AUSTIN, TEXAS (January 2016) -- McGinnis Lochridge is pleased to announce the election of two lawyers for promotion to partner, effective January 1, 2016. The new partners, Chris Halgren and Jordan Mullins, will add to the firm’s litigation capabilities in the Oil & Gas Industry.
“I am excited about Chris and Jordan being elevated to partners. Both Chris and Jordan started at our law firm as summer law clerks and have moved up the ranks by devoting a lot of time and energy to the practice of law,” said Jonathan Baughman, leader of the firm’s Oil and Gas Practice Group. “They are both energetic and smart lawyers who have a bright future ahead of them. It is great to have them onboard.”
CHRIS HALGREN represents clients in a wide variety of contract, tort, secured transactions, and other civil litigation matters. With horizontal drilling transforming the energy landscape across Texas, Mr. Halgren developed an emphasis on oil and gas related matters. He has represented operators, non-operators, and landowners in a variety of disputes ranging from seismic misappropriation, leasing issues, royalty disputes, title litigation, lease termination, midstream accounting, and other related contractual disputes. Mr. Halgren has also advised clients on and negotiated various contracts related to leasing and operational issues, such as joint operating agreements, leases, surface use agreements, boundary well agreements, and unit designations. Mr. Halgren received his JD from The University of Houston Law Center and was selected to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list, a Thompson Reuters service, in 2014 and 2015.
JORDAN MULLINS represents both landowners and operators and has experience with a range of matters, including oil and gas pricing and measurement, underpayment of royalty claims, lease termination issues, claims for surface/sub-surface trespass, contract disputes, declaratory judgment actions and land contamination claims. His experience in general litigation includes real property disputes, actions for foreclosure and forcible detainer, and claims under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, as well as defamation, personal injury, wrongful death, tortious interference, negligent misrepresentation, fraud and breach of contract claims. He has successfully tried jury cases in state court and has experience appearing before judges on various pre-trial matters. Mr. Mullins received his JD from the South Texas College of Law.
