McGinnis Lochridge is pleased to welcome Matthew Ormiston as a partner in the firm’s Corporate & Tax practice group. He will be based in the Austin office. He was previously special counsel with Nexsen Pruet.
Ormiston’s practice focuses on representing clients in the agribusiness sector, particularly those within the Farm Credit System. This includes those providing a reliable source of funding to agricultural and aquatic producers, rural homeowners and certain agriculture-related businesses and cooperatives.
“We are happy to welcome Matthew to McGinnis Lochridge,” said Edward McHorse, chair of the firm’s Corporate & Tax section. “His unique background will be a major asset for the firm, especially our agribusiness clients.”
Earlier in his career, Ormiston served as an associate general counsel for a cooperatively owned wholesale funding bank within the Texas Farm Credit District. Prior to that, he represented clients in state and local tax litigation and appeals, construction, contract, employment and entertainment law.
“I’m excited to join McGinnis Lochridge and become a part of this talented team of lawyers,” said Ormiston. “This is the right firm for the next stage of my career.”
Ormiston earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. He received his B.S. from Texas A&M University.
