AUSTIN, Texas (September 27, 2021) — McGinnis Lochridge is pleased to announce the firm has moved its headquarters to the newly reconstructed South Building at 1111 W. 6th Street in Central Austin. The firm will be located in the top two floors, with views of the Austin Market District, Downtown Austin and the surrounding Hill Country terrain.
The building, which is the first of two planned for the site, was recently reconstructed by its owner, Schlosser Development Corporation (SDC), in collaboration with Nelsen Partners Architects and American Constructors. Situated between W. 5th and W. 6th Streets in Austin’s thriving Market District, McGinnis Lochridge’s new office sits at the western gateway to Downtown Austin.
The 90-year old law firm will join Whole Foods headquarters and a myriad of other creative and financial services companies, restaurants and retail in the area. A large pedestrian plaza on the site will be landscaped to create a park-like setting for outdoor gatherings, with a pathway to restaurants and retail shops along W. 6th Street. The site’s easy access, integrated two-level underground parking facility and appealing pedestrian experience with surrounding urban retail will benefit the firm and its clients.
The firm’s new headquarters follows contemporary law firm design concepts and makes extensive use of glass to maximize natural light and take advantage of the building’s new floor-to-ceiling window walls. The office includes a large main lobby skylight above interconnecting stairs that will provide easy access between floors and foster collaboration, together with a flexible, centralized conference center equipped with the latest teleconferencing technology to facilitate in-person and remote client interaction. The space was designed by Perkins & Will and constructed by Rand Construction.
