AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 24, 2010) – McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, L.L.P. partner Melissa Salhab Sykes played a key role in a non-unanimous settlement among West Texas landowners affected by a proposed transmission line between Twin Buttes Station in Tom Green County to McCamey D Station in Schleicher County.

The settlement earned the support of staff at the Public Utility Commission of Texas and was not opposed by LCRA Transmission Services Corporation, which  filed the certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) to construct the lines.

The proposed line could affect landowners in Tom Green, Irion, and Schleicher counties.

“Moving renewable energy from West Texas to the population centers is vital to the fulfillment of our state’s future electric energy needs,” says Sykes.  “It is equally important that the impact of these lines on affected landowners is not ignored and that neighbors work together to minimize the impact of transmission lines on their property."
