He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of disputes in federal and state trial and appellate courts. His cases include disputes concerning business torts, contracts, fraud, intellectual property, trade secret theft, trademark infringement, false advertising, class actions, lender liability, construction, product liability, bad-faith claims, insurance, finance, deceptive trade practices, unfair competition, real estate, officer and director liability, oil and gas, and toxic torts.

Raymond is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and in Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He also has extensive experience in handling commercial disputes through arbitration and mediation. One of the cases Raymond prosecuted was listed in The National Law Journal's U.S. Top 100 Verdicts of 2012 and The Texas Lawyer's Top 50 Texas Verdicts of 2012.  Raymond has been selected to the Texas Super Lawyers list, a Thomson Reuters service, (2012, 2014-2016, 2018-2020).

  • Prosecuting suit for software development company against wireless telecommunications company for breach of contract and trade secret misappropriation.
  • Prosecuting a suit for a software development company against a wireless telecommunications consortium for breach of software development contract and theft of trade secrets.
  • Defending a large aerospace company against a competitor’s allegations of theft of trade secrets and employee raiding, related to security software for the U.S government.
  • Prosecuting a suit for the maker of AstroTurf® against its main competitor for false advertising and trademark infringement.
  • Defending a large foreign telecommunications company against claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and employee raiding. The matter related to the design and development of a next-generation switching platform; and the plaintiff sought damages in excess of $900 million.
  • Representing an internationally-known musical group in a trademark infringement dispute with a national greeting card company.
  • Prosecuting on behalf of a software development company against a licensee for trade secret theft and copyright infringement concerning noise-reduction technology.

Class Action Litigation

  • Defending a national credit card company against an attempted class action claiming violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA) and Credit Code.
  • Defending a large insurance company against an attempted class action alleging misrepresentations regarding premium financing.
  • Defending the nation's largest home manufacturer in an attempted class action asserting claims of DTPA and other act violations.

Insurance Litigation

  • Defending a national insurance company in several administrative rate proceedings by the Texas Department of Insurance relating to the company’s homeowners’ insurance rates for the state of Texas.
  • Prosecuting suit for a national healthcare provider against a major hospital in a dispute concerning the provider’s contract with the hospital.

Construction Litigation

  • Defending a national construction company in a suit claiming defective construction and breach of contract relating to the construction of fiber-optic centers around the country.
  • Defending a product manufacturer against a multi-million dollar suit by an international conglomerate claiming that the soundproofing insulation in a large twin-plant manufacturing facility in Mexico was defective and caused the facility to be destroyed in a fire.
  • Prosecuting claims of defective construction resulting in a catastrophic roof collapse, on behalf of a large mail order business and against the owner, builders, engineers and architect of an office/warehouse building.
  • Defending an architectural and construction firm against a suit seeking over $5 million for alleged defective construction and installation of fire doors in an auto supply store/warehouse that was destroyed in a fire.

Financial Services Litigation

  • Defending a large mortgage company in a substantial multi-party suit claiming fraud and other violations of Texas law in connection with the sales of a large number of investment condominiums.
  • Prosecuting suit on behalf of a large Mexican investor against a Mexican securities company and Mexican bank for fraud and various securities violations.
  • Representing a large national bank in defense of a lender liability suit.
  • Defending the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) against suit by several banks alleging breach of a large loan participation agreement among banks.

Toxic Tort Litigation

  • Defending a national paper company against the attempted multi-million dollar toxic tort class action of a purported class of 5,000 property owners who alleged pollution by a large East Texas paper mill.
  • Defending several dairy businesses in a suit by the City of Waco against the dairy industry for alleged pollution of Lake Waco.

Other Commercial Litigation

  • Defending a large oil and gas producer in a suit alleging breach of oil and gas trading agreements.
  • Defending on appeal a $10 million judgment for breach of contract and fraud against a large operator of oil wells in West Texas.
  • Representing major educational institutions and a public safety agency in several separate lawsuits concerning various disputes under the Texas Public Information Act relating to the Texas Homeland Security Act, transfers of special agents and other cutting-edge issues.
  • Defending a majority of a County Commissioners Court in a suit by citizens alleging various violations of the Texas Government Code and breaches of duties.
  • Prosecuting a suit for several large paper companies challenging the constitutionality of the formation of a municipal utility district with taxing authority in East Texas.
